JSA and moving house

Will I be sanctioned for JSA if I have to leave my job because we've moves house for OH's job? His is a voluntary relocation rather than forced, if that makes a difference. I would have to resign and hope I could get something in the new area (250 miles so no possibility of commuting) but may need to sign on in new area.
Or would they expect me to stay put with the kids unti I'd found a new job as well with hubby working away during the week? This is theoretical at the moment, but would like to know where I stand...

You'll only be claiming JSA if he works p/t. If he's working over 16 hrs then you won't need to claim, he'll be supporting you both until you find work.Clean credit file:12 mthsCar loan: FREE! :jTHE PLAN: 1.Pay off debt £8808.42(£3254.45, £1570.32, £2698.33, £0:dance:, £1000, £285.32) 2.Save monthly for Christmas/insurance etc £150 per month 3.Save for emergencies /£1500 4.Save for our B&B £????depends which one takes our fancy

I thought that if it is a claim based on your own contributions then it is not means tested? So isn't it the case that if you have paid sufficient contributions you get JSA for the first six months? And shouldn't you claim whether you get paid or not for NI credfits? genuine questions - the benefits world seems to be chaging so fast I wouldn't be at all surprised that I am out of date again!0

What I've seen so far is that I would be eligible for contributions based JSA in my own right for 6 months, but what I can't work out is if this would be sanctioned due to me having left voluntarily. We will manage without if we have to, and I would very much hope to be working before too long, but I was hoping for help from the jobcentre with looking and I'm not sure they would if I wasn't eligible for JSA?0

I get NI credits with the Child Benefit anyway, but I'm just totally confused about other stuff! I've only ever claimed CB and maternity pay before (which I think are all benefits), so although I can't claim never to have used the benefit system there are large parts of it I have no experience of.0

Sorry yes, I forgot about CB for the 1st 6 months. In these circumstances I don't think they would sanction you. I know people who have become unemployed due to relocation and they've had no sanctions.Clean credit file:12 mthsCar loan: FREE!

Brilliant, that will at least give us some help for the first few months. Advantage to moving is that I can avoid signing up for sky, shop around etc, and we may even be able to work it so I don't have to work, which would be great - and then the point becomes moot really! And we will be moving to a cheaper area as well...0

I left a job due to relocation and was not sanctioned as I was unable to continue doing that job due to the distance of 200+ miles. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0

Oh I know, the moot point being that if I wasn't looking for work then I wouldn't be signing on and it wouldn't matter if I was sanctioned...
We live in a relatively expensive area at the moment, a relocation would allow us to have a complete new budget, no sky etc and it may not be necessary for me to work. If I decided I wanted to work, then obviously I would be looking and eligible, but if not then I wouldn't sign on in the first place. I understand they are quite strict, so signing on if I didn't intend to focus 100% on jobseeking would be daft (and possibly fraudulent?)
Budget looking good so far, think I will need a job but nowhere near my current salary which is obviously good news!0
