I'm in one of those mail order book clubs. I take the monthly magazine to my bike meeting to see if anyone wants to order from it. Cheaper books for all and we share postage and I've met my minimum commitment!0

Both my neighbour and I have Next accounts. They just sent me a note asking if I wanted the new catalogue, at a cost of £3.75. Instead of getting my own catalogue, I just borrowed my neighbour's. She has paid for this one, and I will pay for next season's catalogue. Seemed silly for us both to pay out at the same time.0

https://www.kiddicare.com usually do a discount on baby items - cots, prams etc for multiples - could be worth linking up with friends for bulk purcases of essentials.0

I do this for a few things.
FOOD: There is a large group of us that buy in bulk from a local wholefood wholesaler (supplies health food shops etc). Either someone drives to the warehouse, or if our order is over £100 they will deliver for free. It's great being able to buy 10l of Ecover washing liquid at a fraction of the shop price and just sharing it out. We get all sorts including tetrapak fruit juice, rice, loo paper, washing up liquid... Only snag is they sell Green & Black's chocolate by the case, so you have to be strong willed!
AND, I was very very lucky to find a local farm selling their home-reared cows (beef!). Each cow gives about ten 'freezer packs', which they sell at a flat rate of £2.50/lb!!! Locally, organically, outdoor reared, locally slaughtered, butchered back at the farm, and they even delivered it for free. Shared a pack with a friend and we got a carrier bag full of top quality beef each, for £35. The fillet steak is still in the freezer - £2.50/lb !!:T (If anyone near Sheffield wants to pm me I'll tell you where the farm is, they're lovely people.)
Find out who supplies the shops in your area, then go straight to themBe it meat, veg or washing powder...
SEEDS: Having a seed swap party this week with several other allotmenters. Saves a fortune, and who can grow 300 broccolli plants by themselves anyway?
MUCK: Allotment holders only, I suspect. A trailer full of horse poo goes a long way:TProud to be dealing with my debts :T0 -

I saw this interesting article on MSN Money recently - in a country where haggling is practically a sport, but trust of of internet sites is low, they are using the internet to create flash mobs to demand discounts in-store.

I clicked on "E-mail this to a friend" and no less than 40 new windows opened. I suggest you stay well clear!0
