DIY gel nail colours - shellac, gelish etc

I know this is an oldish thread now but thought I'd just post in case anyone happens to search for DIY shellac as I did when I was thinking of doing my own shellac! Anyway, to get to the point, I was loving getting shellac done in the salon as it was lasting up to 2 weeks for me and staying lovely and shiny but I was grudging spending the £25/£30 every fortnight. I had watched the therapists doing mine and thought it looked pretty easy, so with my Christmas money I treated myself to a base & top CND shellac and a couple of colours and from Amazon bought a 36W lamp for under £30 and sat down at home and gave myself a DIY shellac manicure! I was delighted with the results, it really is as easy as putting on nail polish and the cheap lamp did the trick. So basically I don't have any beauty training, and I'd echo what If846 said in that if you can paint your nails with normal polish, you can do the shellac. Hope this might help someone.
