Blogging Problem.

I own a fashion blog and it's been running for almost 3 months. I've received a couple thousand page views each month but my problem is that, basically none of them follow. Why is this?

  • Hi,

I run several blogs, and buy, optimise and then sell sites for a second income, so if you send me a link to your blog I can take a look. By 'none of them follow', do you mean none of them subscribe to updates, or none of them follow your Twitter? It's just that 'follow' is a term generally associated with Twitter.

When you say you get a couple of thousand page views, it would be helpful to know where you've got that figure - some tracking plugins/websites include search engine bots in the figures, but these are obviously not actual visitors who read your blog, which might explain this.
  • What blog service do you use? Is it wordpress, blogspot or something else? And how do you have people following, is if via Google Friend Connect (GFC), Bloglovin' or again, something else? Do you get people commenting on your posts?

Bear in mind that in the grand scheme of things, your blog is quite new, are you promoting it in any way at all? i.e. Facebook, Twitter, blog directories, giveaways etc?

You're also allowed to put one website URL in your contact info on this forum - may bring you some more traffic and so more followers?
  • Wow too many question's to answer! 1. I use Blogspot and their tracking. Google friends follow. 2. For advertising I use anything i'm registered to (Facebook, twitter, habbo, youtube etc). 3. I would advertise on here but this isn't the target audience I want. 4. I don't get comments, but people rate the posts.

A lot of your visitors probably don't use Google Friends. From my experience (perhaps it's just the type of sites I run) most people follow the site using RSS feeds. If you use Feedburner then this is easy to track. As long as you're getting good levels of traffic, it's pretty much certain that people are subscribing to updates from your blog in some form or another.
