If the plasma has not got a tuner can you use your sky box in place of the tuner or is life not that simple?0
-
It is that simple , sky can be used as your tuner but you need to make sure your screen and sky box have the same connectivityDon't ask me, Im SKINT0

1. Not all companies that sell Plasma actually make them, there are only 5 companies in the world that manufacture plasma, this means that you might buy it because it has a badge that you know or trust but it may not be all that it seems. You can pay two very different prices for a Plasma Panel that comes from the same factory but with different badges.0 -
I expect to see any Plasma or LCD TV that is not HDTV capable, to be reduced by 50% this year.
It is false economy to buy without HDTV. You may as well just buy a CRT TV for a fraction of the cost.0 -

Well put Ohreally, I was going to say that the info is readily available on the net. It is amazing what you can find on the internet now. I think that this thread has shown that if you are planning to buy a Plasma or LCD you need to do a lot of research. A cheap price might not be as attractive as it first seems, but spending a lot of money is not the answer either, do your research carefully. They have the internet on computers now!!!0 -
There are loads of scam sites that will sell you a 100-inch TV for a few pounds. The 'details' they miss out is that you need to build a cheapo projector, you get poor results and that you need to use your TV upside down... (Unless you build another bit with mirrors to invert the image.)
Anyway! This mahoosive TV for £200-ish shows the incredible results you can get by combining an LCD panel (specialist bought, or buy dismantling a laptop or TFT screen) with an OHP.
Even if you are only mildly interested in big TV, check out the link to see what you can get for (relatively) little money...
Also, it's worth noting you can get slimline OHP's that are MUCH less bulky than the type they demo.

I did read somewhere that bang & O (or someone similar) use the older panasonic screens, something like a pw4 or pw5 in their plasma`s and charge top wack for it.0 -
I'm not waiting for Plasma TV's to come down in price, I'm just waiting for a vast improvement in their picture quality. I see little point in having a 42" screen, if it has to be viewed from the bottom of the garden to hide the fact that the picture quality is so poor. Until then, it's a Sony 32" flatcreen for moi.The MSE Dictionary
