I'm here, I'm saving and I want to be finally debt free!

Hello!

I've been lurking for a couple of years and have chipped away at our debt, but need some motivation to pay it off finally!

The bad news :
Our oustanding debt is £6030 on a Halifax 0% card and everything else is paid off, so no car loans, overdrafts or store cards. Not sure when the deal ends, so need to find out and make that my pay it off by target!

The good news :
We were £125 away from our overdraft on the 15th and since then I've been e-bay selling like a crazy woman. I've sold no end of bits and bobs and have £320 in our joint account with a payment of £182 due in from pay-pal. I've not paid the postage on the bits that sold last night so I'm expecting about £50 of that to disappear and I need to pay my e-bay fees which is about £125!. My hubby gets paid on the 30th and this is the first month in about 5years that we're not touching or in the overdraft.

The great news :
I'm feeling really positive and feel like we've turned a corner and after hubby is paid we can start tackling the credit card properly. We've decided to downsize our normal Christmas spending especially with the children. I've got most of it all ready from the sales and offers throughout the year. The big thing left is a bike for my eldest. Am hoping Halfords have some offers on as I've got a £20 high street voucher to put towards one. Need to have a look this week.

So this is me and my shiny new diary :A and I'm feeling motivated and very positive. Off to polish my halo, check when my deal ends and crack on with the ironing!

  • Have just called the Halifax and the 0% ends on the 27th June 2012, so it looks like that's going to be my target! I'm not sure how realistic that is as it's only 7months away and finding £861 a month isn't go to be easy. I think I need to write out my SOA and squeeze everything a little more ..... will post here when done
  • Hi and welcome to the forum. Like the good, the bad and the great...news.

Good luck on your DFW journey.
  • Might not seem like much but try to use a cash back site when you buy the new bike, you might even get a % off as well.
    Worth a look.
