    No!!!!

A steamed pudding is either a sponge mix or one made with suet.

It will keep in the fridge for ages. Save it for making pastry another time.

  • Hi I know that this will seem a stupid question but can you freeze TREX the cooking fat, Not T Rex the group. lol. I do know that it can be kept in the fridge for a very long time, however i have bought such a lot that i don't really have much room in the fridge to store it in there, thats the fault of finding the best pastry in the world on this site. Do any of you guys know if it can be frozen or not. I have frozen Lard succesfully, so thought maybe TREX can be frozen as well. If no one knows then perhaps i might phone the customer services to find out, although saying that lots of produce are said to be non freezable, but we know otherwise... don't we.
    Thanks for any advice.

  • Helloooo again. I have just phoned the customer services for Trex. It came under Princes Ltd and is situated in Liverpool. I asked if Trex could be frozen and the lady " She say YES".. I also asked what the difference was between Trex and Cookeen, she said that there was not much difference apart from the brand name and the price, Cookeen is abit cheaper, although saying that, i have just looked them both up on Mr T's website and although Cookeen is cheaper, at 59p it is only sold in 250g and Trex is sold at my Mr T's at GB 1.03 for 500g. So in the long run i will be sticking to Trex, unless i am skint and can't afford the extra pennies. Thanks for your help and i hope that this has also helped anyone else. I am now off to the Freezer to freeze my stash and make alot more room in the fridge. :j

My son is making Cornish Hevva cakes at school and the recipe calls for lard, he's not veggie but I am so 1) would prefer for it to be something that we can all eat and 2) don't really want to buy a block of lard when I know I will never use it again. So can he use Trex in place of the lard?

    Many Thanks

Yes! I always use it for my veggie relatives, half and half with marg seems to make the lightest pastry.
