Advice on missing a DMP payment please.

Hello unfortunatley my oven has given up the ghost. I have a dmp and i missed Aug due to car repairs. Ironically i had £300 plus bill to get car through mot IN Nov but managed this with help from family.
My other missed was Nov last year again car! (i know but i cant afford to replace).
Will my dmp be stopped if i miss Dec? (i think its 3 in a 12 month perios would lead to it stopping?). I dont want this to happen but need my oven repaired if pos or worst case replaced?
Thanks in advance x
BTD.

  • Hi Beat the Debt. I do not have an answer to your question but just don't want you to feel ignored! My post will also help keep your question at the top of the list;)

Thinking 'outside the box' (what a foul phrase), I guess you could do without your oven a little while and use microwave and a slow cooker if you have them? Or buy a really cheap second hand one until you can have your's repaired. Really though, these are just thoughts.

Fingers crossed someone can give you a more appropriate response soon.

  • I wish I could help answer your question!! I was without an I've
(but luckily had a hob!). For several months when we first bought the house. A nightmare, and not what you need before Christmas.

Is it worth talking to Payplan and see if they can help or advise you seeing as it's circumstances outside your control?

  • Buy a second hand cooker? Nobody wants a second hand cooker, so they tended to go very cheap whenever I have known about it. Probably cheaper than a repair and might allow you to keep your head above water?
Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam
  • Try freecycle or freegle local to where you live. Post a wanted add explaining your need. There are usually quite a few local to me. Then all you need to do is go collect it and get someone to wire it in or if gas connect it up.
You can also get rid of you current one that way if you wish to. Sounds like thermostat cut out is knackered, so you could ask an electrical outlet place if they know any reasonable cost repair people. They sometimes have business cards on display. Lots of options.
Brother did his for £50 not long ago and that oven is well over 25 years old.
  • Thanks for your replies. I want it repaired as its an intergrated one and i dont have room for free standing. I will get a quote for repair but at the moment i cant find anyone in the area!!! xx
