information overload

hi I am new to this site and have spent hours reading so many useful and informative threads.
our situation isn't too bad compared to others however I am getting myself worried sick as I can see unless we sort this now its going to get worse.

oh and I both had capitol one cards ,OH has gone to fpc debt collectors who have agreed payment arrangements.
I had a call from cougar collections today regarding mine however they cut me off mid call and I get cut off each time I call back so no arrangement has been made with them yet.
we are 2 months behind with council tax which I understand should be our priority.
mortgage and insurances are up to date.

my OH says to leave the payment to fpc for his capitol one this month and get some council tax paid off, I know this is what we should prioritise but am afraid the debt collectors will send bailiffs around then. can they?
also as no arrangement has been able to be made with cougar can they now send debt collectors?
my teenage son is home alone for an hour each evening before I get in from work, and at 15 he understands not to let anyone in if they call but I'm worried sick they'll get in.

any advice will be appreciated, many thanks

  • Dont panic about baillifs at this stage, they can not levy goods without a court order!

Your correct...council tax is your priority and capital one will have to wait!

Im sure someone will be along soon with more information ... just stop panicing as it makes things harder to deal with clearly! :)
