OK i work at McDonalds its a crap job but some 1 has to do it so no slagging me
Anny ways i was working away as you do and it was my finishing time and my dad was picking me up but because they were busy they said that MacDonald's can keep me an extra 20 Min's
so by the time i done the extra 20 Min's my dad had left to start his job so i ended up with and extra £1.33 but had to pay £2.70 for a taxi
now a have been tolled that it is bull about the 20 Min's thing by a manager that likes me but more higher up ones have said it is the truth
so my question is.: Is it legal for them to keep me an extra 20 Min's more than my squealed time
please don't say it is illegal if u r not 100% sure cause a dont want to say that am no staying and get the sack for it
Thanks

We would not dream of slagging you, as you say, someone has to do it and lots of us are glad it's not us. And there are a couple of other McD workers around, if you do a search on the board you might find them and could pm them for guidance? Some of them have kids to collect from school so this would be a real issue for them.
Anyway, I hope Jay-Jay's site is helpful. But bear in mind that if you get too 'awkward' you may find yourself no longer working unless your colleagues are prepared to back you up ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Good point Savvy_sue, I think that jellyhead is a manager at McDs, maybe the OP could PM her.Just run, run and keep on running!0

All you need to do is say i can't work on my dad is waiting etc and if they don't let you go then do you really want to work for them anyway? I am not slagging the job off i am just saying that any reasonable person would let you go.
As for the legal side, its all in your contract so i would read over it. They might have you by your short and curlys if they have written into the contract you should have an hour a week overtime when needed.0
