Amazon refund if price reduced?

Folks :-
I may be going bonkers; but I'm sure Amazon used to have a policy that if a price was reduced on an item you'd bought from them within 30 days then if you asked then they'd refund the difference.
Did they have such a policy? Is it still in place? Has it changed recently?
When I asked Amazon, their representative said there was no policy, but as a gesture of good will refunded me 50p on the one order I queried.
There are other orders where the price has been reduced in the past 30 days - should I be cheeky and ask for refunds on those as well?
Thanks
Kevin

This was stopped back in September 2008. You can sometime get them to do it as goodwill when the item goes down in price before being dispatched but otherwise they won't do it.0

I have never heard of something like th happen to me when using Amazon0

They used to do it, but stopped when they started offering free postage on everything.0

I know it's not the same, but FYI they do still have a promise where if you pre-order goods that aren't yet available, and the price goes down between the time you order and the day the product goes on sale, you will only be charged the lower price.0

I've called through to the customer service team before when I've seen the price drop on something I'd bought and they wouldn't pay back the difference. They are good, but they're not that good!0

They do have a pre-order price guarantee on some products (these are clearly marked) so if the price drops on the day of release you only get charged the lower amount.
Best course of action in cases where the price drop is significant, and it occurs within 7 days of receiving the goods, is to contact them and ask them if they would refund you the difference rather than having to return the item and then re-order it at the lower price.0 -
They did used to do this as I got it twice on a LCD TV that I bought. I bought the TV a few years back for delivery for Christmas viewing, noticed on Christmas Day whilst surfing for sale bargains it had been reduced. I emailed them and they replied on Christmas Day saying yes, no problem and I got a refund, then a fortnight or so I noticed it had been reduced again, same thing, sent an email and got a refund. I think I got over £150 refunded simply by sending a couple of emails. I also got triple Nectar points on the original price too I remember. Shame they don't offer that now :-(0

I ordered a book recently on preorder, received it, then out of the blue the following week I received an email informing me I was entitled to a refund as the price had gone down. My refund? ..... 1p0
