buying pillows

Options
dear all,

i could really use some advice on buying pillows. i never seem to get it right. it doesn't matter how much i spend, they never seem to last for more than a few months. is that normal? i don't remember my mother replacing our pillows anywhere near as often.

my husband is allergic to down, so we only buy synthetic ones. i've tried squeezing the pillows while in the store, but frankly i can't tell how good or bad they are. sure some feel more full than others, but i can't tell how long that will last.

if someone could recommend a brand/type of pillow, or at least how to pick out a good one, i'd very much appreciate it.

thanks in advance.

About 6 months ago i replaced our pillows with sainsburys 2 for £8.99 (i think- certainly wouldn't ahve paid more than that).

they are great and synthetic so i can wash them - although I havn't needed to yet.

About 5 years ago we bought Dunlopillow latex foam pillows and they are still going strong.
I only ever hand wash and air dry them.

My top tip for washing fibre pillows to stop the going all mis-shapen.

Pin through each corner using a large nappy pin.
Safety pins unless huge tend not to big enough.

I bought the Rebound pillows from Argos too and they have been brilliant, still as good as new after 3 years.
