Kidcat I know I know! I really loathe it sometimes. I never record it, but have been known to wake up to go to the loo in the night and... well, somehow the telly gets switched on to see what they're up to.
I am sort of interested in the social experiment side of it, though it long ago stopped being of interest in any Orwellian way!
Edit - that's true Mrs C, and I also love seeing those preening wannabee celebs gradually losing the plot because they're not getting the fawning attention they think they deserve!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I used to love the psychologist's view of their behaviour's in there but when it became wacky/sex sells kind of thing I quit watching. I didn't even know it was starting again.
On our box is a recorded Freddy Flintoff does Borneo while I crochet my winter house coat... Actually, BB sounds appealing
I shan't though. I am a sucker for nonsense if I let it.0 -
The social experiment aspect has been/is very interesting, although now it is more to do with what contestants will do to grab media attention rather than the living in confines with strangers thing. Some years are distinctly rubbish but there have been some utterly compelling series - I wonder which this one will be?
Oh and I do get a bit fed up with the focus on young attractive people with the token geek, where are all the oldies?:D I think Mar should send the RVs video application in...Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Yep, it sucks you in fuddle, I hate it but I have to watch it! Actually one thing I do really hate is the way they treat food. They often waste it in really stupid food fights and they wouldn't know a budget if it stripped off and did a naked dance in front of them.
I don't really like the selling sex thing either, but the sexual tensions are hilarious sometimes!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Ok, can some one tell me please - what is it with the ridiculous shoe thing - do people really wear them??? How do they run for the bus? :rotfl:Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Definitely DO NOT watch big brother!!!!
LOL, years ago when I was avidly tuning in to Eastenders, I watched for a few minutes and just thought "I don't care about any of you". And turned it off - and since then haven't watched any of the soaps. i do listen to the Archers tho - you get so much done at the same time.
Back home from our mini caravan break. Second load in the washing machine, first load on the line and a yummy curry eaten. Had a nice, relaxing and reasonably cheap few days - except the kids' trip to Alton TOwers, even on a BOGOF it worked out horrendously expensive.
It is soo cold, I am seriously contemplating putting the heating on - not liking that weather forecast one bit. Will have to work harder at my winter warm holiday fund.
OH is snoring in the bath. May turf him out and jump in it for a warm upI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
katep23 - thanks for the offer but I will have to decline. Not because I don't want to send you my address but because my cupboard is literally bursting at the seams (door not shutting properly ATM! oops) and I already have about 20 packs of the spelt.
Fuddle - glad you got the fees fixed, hope you manage to get at least partial funding. I've not even looked at my module for next year yet. Must get over this years first, got my exam for K218 a week on Thursday  then a TMA due in for U212 the following Thursday. When U212 finishes in October I'm going to have a break until Feb 2013 - not quite sure what I'm going to do with all the extra hours though? May have to have a 'making things for the house' blitz and of course there are the 'C word' cards to make! Be warned if you make them one year it will be expected for ever after!!!! In fact it's going to be weird enough after the exam to only be doing 1 module and it's the one I'm really enjoying (and getting really high marks in :j:j:j) so may just do a bit more reading around the subject.0 -
3 Minute chocolate cake in a mug
Great for a munchies attack.
I use almond flour (ground almonds) instead of soya flour and a spoonful of real sugar instead of substitute sugar.0 -
ooooh grandma!
[STRIKE]the kids[/STRIKE] I will love that :j
I have gradually weaned myself off the soaps and most of the TV over the past year. Most of it is down to Dh coming in of an evening and just flaking out in front of what he wants to watch (the most part quite interesting really) while I check in on the web, crochet or study. I don't miss nonsense TV as I call it and it was only just a habit for me but I will insist on watching things like Mary Portas, Kirsty's Homemade, HFW kind of things. Things that interest me or might inspire me in some way. I guess I'm growing up
Rain, rain, rain here all week apparentlyat least it looks like it's going to be a steady 18 degrees so at least warm with it. I'm sad we're coming out of Spring. Spring is my favourite time of the year.
Going to have a look at the Approved Food website today. I'm really unsure about buying from there. Maybe you could help me out. Is it all OOD stuff? I would be buying as a way of increasing my stocks which could mean they're in the cupboard for a while, although I would be alternating and using first what needs using up (sounds like logistical nightmare this cupboard malarky) How do you feel about Approved Food for this purpose?

Morning all, am I the first one in the thread? Hope everyone had a good night's sleep. I was cold last night, too, and even had the heating on for a couple of hours, which was outrageous for June. I was contemplating washing the fleece throw I have chucked over my bed for extra snuggling a few days ago, thinking I'd be putting it away for a few months but I was glad of it last night. My duvet has de-lofted its feathers and is a bit carp but I'm hanging on til autumn/ a good sale price, whichever comes first.
:bdaycake: Today is my Nan's 89th birthday!!!! I was talking to her last night to wish her a Happy Birthday as she'll be busy most of the day with Communion and a family meal out. Most pensioners I know have better social lives than I do, which worries me slightly..................:rotfl:
After I forced myself off the internet yestereve to tackle the dark arts of domesticity (the ironing) I decided to rip one of my sheets in half. It's a good quality pure cotton, did several more years sides-to-middled, and has now been ripped up to remove the centre seam. Am I the only hooligan-seamstress out there who finds the sound of tearing cloth very satisfying?I am planning to reduce it into squares, hem it and make it into handkerchiefs. OS or what?
Urrgghhh, a working day...........noooooooooo, pleeeeesssseee. Have a good one; it's briefly stopped raining here, I may get to the office dry-shod. Haven't bothered to shell out for sandals this year, doesn't look like there will be any need.

ETA Mrs Chip, those daft shoes are apparently called "car-to-bar shoes" for those of us who toddle across the pavement from our taxi or limo into a fashionable bar where we sit on a fashionable barstool, preening and posing with our impossible shoes. Walking in them? No way, Jose.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
