Signing Off Jobseekers allowence

I recently ended a claim for jobseekers allowence after successfully finding myself a job after claiming for 6 weeks.
I ended the claim on the 17th November after sending my signing off form in the post on the 10th (One day before my signing on appointment, Which i couldn't attend due to having 2 interviews on the friday), In the booklet i sent off I put down date of work as the 18th November but for myself to be signed on until the 17th.
I sent the form off by first class, And am yet to be paid my allowence for the 2 weeks and last week (comes to around £140), However i've been working for a week and recived my P45 yesterday from the jobcenter !
Has anyone else been in this situation ? I could do with the money as i don't get paid from my new job until next month, And I am litterly skint !
What should I do ?
Many Thanks !

give them a call?
PS: NEVER send the booklet in just by post but ALWAYS use registered post or put it in the Job Centre post box on the door0 -
It's always best to give them a call. In theory they should still pay you up to the date you actually started work. At least they did when I was last on jobseekers (that was a few ago)0

Thanks for your answers ! I'll give them a call in the morning before work, I would have handed it in by person but I didn't have the time, looking back on it I should of sent it by recorded delivery !' You only live once ! Don't live to regret the past, But to enjoy the future '

You can sign off by phone I did this when i signed off last year.0

if you sign on the Friday you would get paid on the following Wednesday but the close of a claim takes a bit longer - check the date on the P45, it just may be coming out to you next week but you will also get a letter saying something like we can not pay you anymore as you have told us you are working etc
Make sure to call them in case they haven't got the booklet back or you will be forever waiting on the £
You know about the back to wrk grant too?

If you couldnt attend your signing appt on the day due, you should have signed ASAP afterwards and as agreed with them if you did not want your claim to end? What did they tell you when you said you could not attend?0

No, I didn't need to sign on because I was signing off (Hence why I sent my form off a day before my signing day), So i did what my advisor told me to do and that was to send them the booklet filled out so they can sign me off and pay me the money that i'm owed (Which i thought was processed on the day you started work, Meaning that if it was processed on the friday i started my new job, That the money would have been in my account by last wednesday), Which it wasn't, Leaving me short for food and other essential expenses...Guess i'll have to chase them up over it, Seems like i'm being penalised for actually finding a job.' I'm in almost the same boat as you. I told my "Advisor" (use that term very loosely as I currently have another word to describe her), that I was starting work the day after I signed on. I am now not entitled to my unemployment benefit for the previous 2 weeks as I had "refused" a few jobs. I hadn't actually refused any jobs as I had accepted one close to home starting on 12th December so when the job offers further away contacted me I told them I had secured a job but am now being penalised for not asking when the start dates of the jobs I "refused" were! I also had the audacity to take a temp job the day after I signed on to see me through to when I start my permanent job on 12th. I was only told of their decision when my money never materialised in my bank account yesterday. Needless to say I'm appealing their decision.
Hope you get it sorted out.Never look down on anyone unless you are bending to help them up.....0
