    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello everyone,

I haven't written for a while. Still been plugging away at the debts and my boyfriend and I have got engaged :) No wedding plans as yet tho.

I have been really lucky with the interest rate on my tracker mortgage so should be able to put a wee bit extra away every month. Have also cancelled my gym membership which saves me some money and have joined a cheaper pay upfront gym.

Am still hoping to be on track to pay off my debts soon but I think it may be June or July as opposed to May to be totally debt free. I will be able to pay off the Abbey credit card within the 6 months interest free period which is the main thing though! Abbey have been a nightmare though to deal with... not taking my direct debits when instructed etc! The other card is interest free until next yr at some point so I will comfortably pay that off by then. The sooner the better as I would also like to join the MFW board when I get debt free.

    Hope everyone is well.

I had just one more month to go before becoming debt free... or so I thought. Last Saturday my neighbours cracked citern flooded my flat causing an unbelieveable amount of damage. The buildings insurance should cover most of the work but I'll be out of pocket in the interim until they eventually pay out.

The flat is a mess. Fortunatly it didn't affect my bedrooms but my bathroom is a mess... lino is torn walls bulging.... my kitchen walls are all wet and my livingroom has a bulge in the ceiling. The ceiling may contain asbestos so we might be out of pocket even more if they do find asbestos and we have to move out

My fiance has just bought a new car so has no money to help me out with the bills this month so its just me paying for everything. Its my policy which pays out meaning that I have to pay the £100 excess and won't be able to reclaim it from my stupid neighbour who caused the damage in the first place

I'm so frustrated I could cry... I am nearly there after over two years of work and this is (another) setback. Between this and my roof bill last year I think my flat is cursed

Thanks everyone! I'm so pleased that have finally done it! Have now been debt free for a couple of months now and am managing to live within my budget. I'm still putting the same amount of money away per month but this time its to replace my bathroom which should be finished this month and then am going to use the low interest rates to make extra payments to my mortgage.

I couldn't have done it without this website and my diary. You are wonderful:A:A:A
