Doing reasonably well at the moment - am trying the Sainsburys value bio washing powder - £0.50p can't be bad for a box and I will see how I go. That alone has saved me £5.00 this week. I also used £20 vouchers I earned via Pigsback and bought £20 worth of food at Waitrose for our Valentines meal. We got steak, asparagus and sweet potato, plus lemon tarte for dessert and chocolate. Also managed to get some normal shopping at the total was £28, so only £8 real money...MFW #185

Well went to Tesco today for milk, fruit (for us) and baking ingredients for school and ended up spending £58.74 (for us)
Most of the spend was on reduced meat/poultry though-sirloin steak x4(valentine meal), duck legs x4, lamb chops x4 and a pack of chicken drumsticksAs I have my meal plan for this month all this meat (not the steaks) will be on next months menu plan :rotfl: So I will spend the money I would have spent on meat next month on 2 really nice joints from the butcher.
I have also bought today 2 boxes Finish lemon dishwasher tabs, (each box 30 tabs) on bogof. Now, as I cut these in half, I have 4 months worth for £6.78
I also have 3-4 weeks supply of kitchen towel, the one with the elephants, which was on offer £1 (2 rolls) and loo roll, 16 rolls for price of 12 x2pcks and found hand wash (which I water down), conditioner, face wipes and shower gel all on bogofs so I'm set for the next month, if not more with those :rotfl:
So next month fruit, veg, dairy and breadYeah right

Hi all,
This is my first month of keeping a check on what I spend, after the first few days I thought I was going to be way over budget.
But, I now realise that we are almost half way through February and whilst I have spent over half of my budget, I've got loads of food in the freezer and cupboard.
Whilst out shopping yesterday, I found 6, 2 pint cartons of milk reduced to 20p each as they were on their last day. A few months ago, I would have bought one, now they are all cooling their heels in my freezer.
Also found some reduced Quorn mince and a bumper bag of reduced bananas.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Just done the second big shop of the month (Tesco online). Will come to around £94 before special ofer reductions. This should last for the rest of the month, so only perishables to buy. Am hoping to meet budget but keeping fingers crossed.:rolleyes:0

Well I'm still on target as I only spent a total of £40 today in Aldi and Asda. That leaves me £40 for the last week, so I reckon I'll do it again.
Next month will be hard as it's going to be a 5 week month!0 -
Been working more than usual, so haven't had time to budget and plan as well as last month, but at least I've earned a bit more than usual. My budget is £250 for grocery, for me, hband plus 2 kids and the cats. Also, £200 for everything else. So far, doing very badly-spent £180 on food and £200on everything else, but been hit by 2 unexpected bills, otherwise would have been fine! If we can manage on £70 for the next 15 days, I'll be on target, and fridge/cupboards are full, so maybe!0

Hi everyone
Well had a real bargain today. Last week I spent some money in Sainsbury's on my groceries and got a ticket for a free bag of cox apples. Went into Sainsbury's today to get the apples and literally walked out with a bag of apples only, but what a bargain. In the voucher it says: Get a free bag of cox apples - 7 apple bag. Well I got a bag with 11 apples in as they are on special offer - 50% extra free! So thought it was great.
I also decided against using Sainsbury's vouchers as they annoyed me so much, went in to get £3.00 worth of saving stickers for my booklet and they refused to change my change into £1 coins, I only had 20p coins and the machine only take £1 coins. I was told that it is to much money to change and I must use the coinstar machine. I told them that if I did that I would lose some of my money as the machine takes money for changing it and she said well that's what it's for. It annoyed me so much that now I will be putting my money left over from this challenge and Moozie's Sunday to Friday challenge in a pot and depositing it into my savings account at the end of every month, at least I'll get some interest on my money then. What it cheek, it annoyed me so much, it wasn't as if I had 2p coins! And that way I suppose I can choose where I want to spend that money come the end of the year. I hate Sainsbury's anyway, and Tesco for that matter! LOL!
Anyway, sorry about the rant. I then spent £6.34 in the fruit and vegetable stall and £1.01 on some lamb for soup in the kosher butcher. Was a real bargain for the lamb! Was well pleased. So that's £7.35 spent out of my £10.00 for the week. So far so good.
Thanx everyone
