DMP and Insurance

Hi there,
I am in the process of setting up a DMP through CCCs. Just one question, I had trouble getting a sensible quote for Buildings and Contents Insurance earlier on in the year. When I was questioning the guy on the end of the line as to why the difference of £1000 between my quote and my neighbour opposite ( identical houses and similar insurance requirments) I was told that if they think you are in poss financial difficulties they would consider you more likely to make a false claim ,therefore they will increase your premium to stop you doing this !! Is this true, ? Has anyone else had any experience of this? Am just wondering if once I enter the DMP my car / house insurance premiums are going to rocket.

Hmm, ours haven't done so and we've renewed contents and car whilst on DMP.0

I have renewed both my building, contents and car insurance since being on my DMP. I took car insurance out with a different company than I used to have the insurance with. My premiums went down! I would prehaps check around. Could it just be this company that charges more?? I went through compare the market website xx:DDebt Free Date 1st August 2016 Sealed Pot Challenge #140

Each insurer will have there own method of deciding and for some it will be an issue. Just look around.
My car insurance this year went up loads, but then again that is a common thing, I did however noticve a search on my credit history so they do check.
I just went with someone else even though I had been with them for 5 years.
Remeber they don't care about you so don't care about them.0 -
Thanks for all of your replies. Need to renew my car insurance in the next week or so, so hopefully the quotes will be relatively low. As with the House insurance I ended up taking it out in just my husbands name rather than joint and we got a really low quote, as soon as I was added into the mix the price went sky high !!! Made me feel a bit like a criminal after the insurance companies comments, even though we havent claimed on house insurance in donkeys years and have no intention of doing so !
Anyway was good to know your experiences !LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
