Are you considering a DEBT RELIEF ORDER?

Hi just wanted to share that my DRO came to an end at the end of last month and things seem to be OK, although I am in disbelief! Fingers crossed everything is settled.
If you are considering it, the Consumer Credit Counselling Service were great helping me plan it all and then you go through to the Insolvency Service.
I am still receiving statements from my old bank who were one of the creditors on the DRO with them debiting an amount each month but according to the Insolvency Service they can poke it as they aren't getting anything and the amounts on the DRO have been 'wiped off' so to speak.

Good luck everyone else considering this or having done this, although it seems too good to be true lets hope it's not :A

Yep mine ended July 2010 and everything's been fine so far. If you get any letters from credited on your DRO just write to them reminding them about the DRO.
  • Did you have any contact from the IS during the 12 months of your DRO?

Mine was approved in september of this year and was told that at anytime someone could contact me asking for SOA's, payslips etc obviously if anything changes ill be contacting them myself anyway but im just wondering as so far i've not heard anything from anyone regarding the DRO itself? has anyone ever been contacted after approval to the end of the 12 months?

  • I'm thinking about this, is it really that easy?
  • Hi Rosered, yes if you meet the criteria then it seems to work.. You must have £50 disposable income a month (no more) and if you have a car it must be worth less than £1000. I had to get letters from three independent garages to confirm this as my car came up slightly worth more than £1000 on their system but due to its condition, I was just required to get the independent valuations which some local garages kindly did.
Contact CCCS and find out if you can go ahead they are a great help
