Income and Expenditure - Can you review?

  • I asked T-Mobile (who we are both with) and you can only downgrade a month before your contract ends. But surely the fact that my usage shows that if I had pay as you go, my bill would be £150 a month! It doesn't take a brainiac to work out that's silly money!

One more question....a friend of ours has offered to drip feed our "new" post BR Co-Op account with £50 for 10 months so that our income pretty much matches our expenditure whilst hubby is still jobhunting. They actually have offered to give us another £500 cash but we won't tell the OR that....gives us a bit of breathing space.

How can I note that in my income and expenditure? Obviously it's not a formal income as such. Would a letter from them saying they have offered to give us £50 a month for 10 months be sufficient? Would make our figures much more healthier!

The loan they are offering us is "pay it back once finances are better". We are very lucky to have such goods friends I know.

Put your land line up to £60 and don't declare your mobiles and hope you can find the money from other allowances. Your groceries is low so raise that to compensate.

Won't the OR ask if we have phones? We don't have any debts on our phones or anything. Is it not wrong to not declare them? Especially as we have a DD coming out for them.

Our groceries may be low but our income is already more than our expenditure. How kindly would the judge/OR be if that negative figure increased?

I think you are getting the wrong idea about allowances, the OR allows amounts fot the categories that he/she feels you entitled. This gives an amount, unless things have changed drastically you can spend that money how you want.
As in our case the OR would not give us any allowances for a car, but six months into the br we had a car and were funding it from other allowances.
Just because you have a holiday allowance doesn't mean you have to save it to go on holiday.
Even if the OR asks about the mobiles you can say you got one, but as sated he/she might not allow them but you can fund from elsewhere.

From previous statement put your land line to £60 and put your mobiles to £0, Then you could increase your groceries by £20.
You have put minimal on some allowances and could be increased, so there is good chance you will not get an IPA, so you will be able to spend the money where you want.

Even if with our rough actual spending our income is still less than our outgoings? That's what I'm concerned the OR would have an issue with.

Also what do I do about adding the extra £50 a month we've been offered to the I&E?

If you use the advise that has been given then you should satisfy the OR for essential expenses, but it will be the OR that says what they think is acceptable , however if you have a shortfall still that is a budget issue and you need to relook at the budget overall and may have to make some adjustments to your lifestyle, i would not go down the avenue of having people give you money to live unless its a short term solution.

It could be that you may have to look at what is pushing you over ie rent and the car, both are lifestyle choices , you have the choice to whether you can afford them. You are paying towards 300 pound per month for the car that is high when you have a low income.

Whilst peugot said you can continue with the payment for the car, that really isnt the issue it the OR decision as to what they will do with it id have thought .
Id want to know if it was me how would the receiver look at that car when it is paid off which im reading will be in the undischarged period. Its unusal thought to then grant you a asset which the car will be i wonder and others should be able to answer this Is the OR likley to force the sale of it and return enough money to purchase a 2nd hand motor as i thought they wont allow assets now over 1k for motor vehicles

How much Housing Benefit and Council Tax do you get , if none maybe consider relocating to a cheaper property because what ive seen the rent, car and mobile phones are you problem expenses and what you can change.

    Good luck

With regards to the car....it looks like Peugeot might have made a mistake with the figures....WE MIGHT HAVE ALREADY PAID THE CAR OFF....in fact we might have OVERPAID! We're waiting for Peugeot to call back!

If that's the case, then we can take out the serviceplan and the car loan meaning we have almost £60 surplus income. Although I plan to increase our food budget as that's so low.

That could be good news I soooo need!

With regards to my phone, this usage is taken from my latest bill...
    1. Calls £128.03
    2. Texts £28.56
    3. Unused £25.80
    4. Voicemail £1.43
    Total £183.82

So my £190 credit is about right!

    Hi

That is for my phone. I'm on one of the old Flext tariffs where you are given a monthly allowance to spend how you like over hte month. Mine is £190 of allownace for £35 a month.

Last month all I didn't use was about £25 of the allownace.
