Stockings for teenagers

Hi all

DD's are now 20 and 18 and DS 15 but I still do them a stocking each year :xmassmile The problem is the older they have got, the harder it is to come up with small items to put in that aren't too expensive - gone are the days of carp from the BHS Xmas store :D

So - this year, so far, I have the following:-

DD's
Lip gloss
Socks
Choccolate coins
Necklace / hairband in Peacocks sale
Turby towel
Big purple Quality Street
Bra & Knicks set (Primark)
Lindt Santa
Magazine

DS
Belt
Magazine
Socks
Plop Top Trumps
Purple Bar
Xmas pants
Purple bar
Lindt Santa
Chocolate coins

Ideally I'd like two or three more small things each and wondered if anyone had any ideas of 'different' things I could put in. Should say both DD's are at uni (not sure what difference that makes though :rotfl:)

    False eyelashes (home bargains)
    Cotton buds
    Cleansing wipes
    Toothbrush
    Tights
    Hair grips
    Intensive hair conditioner
    Mascara
    Pk pens
    Deodrant
Mini bottles of wine (Sains 2 for £3)

  • memory stick, nail polish, face wipes, body sprays (lynx ect) vouchers ( i.e get out of the washing up for one night etc)
  • face mask sachets for the girls? Gloves?

I would put in more toiletries too; may seem dull but I'm sure the ones at Uni would appreciate having a stash to take back & not having to spend out on for a while...

    Thanks people :)

Some great ideas there for the girls, although I do usually send them back with a box of bits, including toiletries, at the start of each term.

Any other ideas for DS would be gratefully received - am really stuck with him !

my son is a similar age...ive also included
    a keyring
couple of gel pens as hes forever losing them
shower gel...bought the jilted elf from lush..it will appeal to his sense of humour but they also have things like tooth tabs instead of toothpaste which is something a little out of the ordinary
a small lego toy...he still collects them and its one of the free ones from the sun
scratchcard...yes I know hes not old enough..but its something we all get in our stocking and as yet its not created a gambling habit
a book...this year its philip reeve
    Deodorant
Top gear annual...again a throwback to younger years...
a tshirt..umbro from somewhere like jjb or sports direct...a few pounds but good for under shirts
    styling wax for his hair
a chocolate orange...although i'm rather worried that theres a lot of chocolate as hes also got the chocolate coins and santa...but then again those are the only 3 things he ever asks for!
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend
  • Hi most stuff I have got my teens has been on offer or cheapish items.
So far they have box mini choc seashells, tub of pringles, j20 drink, small selection box, multi pack of mini breakfasts (they love these), multipack of mints, fizzy popping candy. I will also get them socks, books, magazines my boys like the xbox mags and daughter likes fashion mags. Can't think of anything else at the mo. I make their stockings look like more by giving them 2 small stockings each instead of 1 big one.
I am also giving them each a box as their present filled with bits they like and need throughout the year. Daughter I could get so much but it is packed with perfumes (from £ shop) deodorants, monthly stuff, baby wipes nail polish - literally everything she uses in the year and she loves getting these boxes from me each year. I have also put in there new underwear, tights. Might get her some nightwear.
    Hope this is useful.
The credit card is finally cleared
Just got loan to pay off now
    balance £2221.
  • For either/both:
A gift card to use at uni: Costa/Starbucks, restaurant for a meal out, cinema voucher.
    A book?
    iTunes voucher.

    For your daughter:
    A snood.
Funky gloves (the ones without fingers but also warm your wrists.)
    Some nice new nail polish.
    Make up.

    For your son:
    Mini torch (keyring.)
    A whistle.
    A swiss army knife.
Fresh breath mints (I bought some 'snog me senseless' ones in Waterstones.)
    Something from the sports shop?
    A new shirt.
    Hair wax.
    Leather bracelet.
