So I owed Vanquis £475 (my limit was only £250), I paid £200 to them leaving me £275 on the card and on the same day received a letter from 1st Credit for £475 with % discounts etc. A few days letter I get another letter the same as before just with the new balance of £275.

This was a week or so ago, today I get another letter stating:
Legal proceedings being considered, current balance £275

I plan to pay Vanquis £30 on Wednesday to take me below my limit. I know 1st credit are using these letters to try & scare me which isn't working & it's clear Vanquis still handle my account.

Do you think once I get below £250 Vanquis will stop all this crap? What can I send 1st credit to tell them to get lost?

EDIT: Should I CCA Vanquis?

didnt you sign up online for the vanquis card?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • So, is the account open or closed?

    Legal proceedings for £250....Hmmmm.....:rotfl:

If Vanquis still own the account 1st credit can't litigate in their own right anyway - they are talking the usual drivel.

I'd send a letter basically saying...

Dear 1st credit, I'll deal with the organ grinder and not the monkey, so kindly do one....

Well I got a statement from Vanquis yesterday for £275 within it it states !st credit are now dealing with the account. Should I go back to Vanquis and ask why it's been past on for so little?

So my balance is £245 so under my limit, should check to see if Vanquis have defaulted me (hopefully not) and go back to them.

So 1st credit have send me yet another letter offering me a final settlement figure on £275 (£192.91) this discount is more than in the last letter. I only owe Vanquis £245.

Should I send a CCA letter or a prove it letter to 1st credit?

What is the point of CCA'ing them if you've already accepted the debt is yours and made in-roads to paying it off? You would only CCA a creditor if you were trying to establish enforceability. You paying towards this debt automatically establishes that the debt is yours. If you took the card out after 2007 then they can provide a recon agreement anyway.

Seems to me that you're paying Vanquis direct and the info is taking time to filter down to 1st Credit. If you only owe £245 then that is what you owe.

Vanquis have sold the debt now and obviously 1st Credit want this paid off, and as they now own the debt it's best to deal with them. Either pay the full balance or set up a payment plan with 1st Credit that you can afford.

I just don't understand why they have sold it on for such a small amount

So I've just received a new statement from Vanquis and all is well with the account. I'm in credit & it no longer says my account is suspended or it is with 1st Credit.
I shall carry on paying Vanquis and ignore 1st Credit.
