i've not got the book yet- and was considering to put it on my birthday wishlist. do you recommend it? i know loads of the posters on this board are regulars or old timers at old styling so has it taught you anything you didn't already know?

Don't want to sound negative but it hasn't told me anything I didn't already know, but then, I don't think it's aimed at me. I wasn't going to get it until someone said my name was in it
Having said that, it's a great book for people new to OS ways0 -
Ditto what Thriftlady says....but it was very handy when my friend phoned and asked how to stop her washing machine being smelly....I was able to say hang on a minute I've got the answer right here....I think it would be a brilliant OS pressie for your mates.

I found quite a few things I'd missed on the actual forum [too much time reading the daily thread methinks!!] so am pleased to have added it to my bookshelf. Was a little puzzled when I thought one of the contributers did the same thing as me until I realised I was that person. Doh!!

Ditto Thriftlady though I will say that it reminded me of things I had forgotten - Is that learning them anew?0

I found it useful to kickstart me and for the odd recipe (gel air fresheners for instance). And to remind me of ways to use vinegar/soda etc. I can't often get online to look these things up when at home (kids monopolising the computer).
Some is a repeat of the Money Diet so if you have that already then there is certainly duplication.
Far more useful was the Comlete Tightwad Gazette which really is jam packed with ideas for economising. And massive. I read it through once and am now going through more slowly noting down ideas.

I found it good to have the recipes and grow your own advice in one place rather than searching. Plus all your family can use itComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0

I havn't bought it yet but every time I go past it in the shop I pick it up and have a little read and I must say I havn't seen anything yet I didn't already know about. But then it's not aimed at us up and running old stylers is it?
If your thinking of buying it Waterstones are running a 3 for 2 offer at the moment. So you can buy both of Martin's books and then get another self help type book for free.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

You are personally thanked in it.
