Capital One Credit Card Default Cougar Finance

I have myself somewhat quite a problem. I have had a Credit Card with Capital One for the past say 7 months around 4 months ago i lost my job and was unable to pay the minimum payments. I was contacted by Capital One to which i informed them i was unemployed agreed that i would try to find the amount of £30 they asked for to cover my next payment however due also finding out i was not eligible for job seekers allowance due to not having made enough contributions previously two years ago i was unable to pay this. I assumed due to me having and paying PPI that this would cover the outstanding amount anyways to cut a long story short. I have defaulted on the card and the card is no longer usable. The account has been passed to cougar finance. I've received several calls regarding the matter and have tried to come to an agreement with them. My partner offered to pay the outstanding balance for me on her credit card to which no avail we were instructed by Nationwide that due to it being a new credit card Cougar need to change a few digits on their systems and it will go through. However I have been told that this has been looked into by them and that they do not know anything about this although they have not contacted nationwide directly  so after this i phoned Capital One explained the situation and Capital One go to process the finance however when we get to the point of taking the card details after already informing the person on the other line that it is a credit card he tells me he cannot accept the card as it is a credit card:mad: frustrating enough so then contacted Cougar Finance and i informed them that if they did not wish to have the full amount settled by my partners credit card then i can only afford £20 a week as my partner will contribute that towards paying it off monthly Cougar finance have informed me they can accept it as a token payment but Capital one can't the minimum payment is £57 and that it will go back to Capital One to which i dont understand. Also on Friday i was at a funeral. my partner came back and recieved a call from Cougar although we had told them not to call due to the nature and after she told the person she spoke to that she was the one paying the outstanding amount they proceeded to put through the amount on her card although it didn't go through no Data protection had been cleared with myself although he didn't reveal any information is this legal? also i believe that they have tried to take payment without myself or my partner being on the phone as we recieved a call from them and were told that it hadn't gone through as soon as we answered the phone and they did not ask for card details again. I have read already that i have made the mistake in dealing with them by telephone and not in writing but i wonder what else to do. I just want this to be settled quickly preferably oh and the total outstanding amount is £1200 the limit on the card was £1500 and outstanding payment on charges is £227 I have around £450 savings which was originally around £2500 which i really dont want to use to find a quick settlement as this is what i have used to support us whilst i have been unemployed as we live in rented accomodation but if i have to i will use it. I appreciate any help and support anyone can give me. Thanx in advance - PS sorry for the essay lol
