Would anyone pursue a £2 debt?

I recently got a bill for £2 from a particularly incompetent energy company. This was my final bill from them. I finally switched companies after years of unbelievably poor service.

Aside from their appalling behaviour over the years, I don't even think I owe this £2. Would they actually try to collect this?

I disputed a similarly ridiculous and tiny bill years ago and got numerous collection letters but eventually somebody had the sense to quit trying. It ended up costing them more in postage than the debt they were pursuing. I guess it was the principle of the thing. I found it comical. This was in the US, though so things may be different in England.

I'd pay the £2 (less hassle) but if you're fond of arguing, don't pay it.

They won't take you to court for £2.

I had a red mark on my credit history for a £5 orange bill which I didn't even know existed because we moved house. I phoned them to pay but it took about 5 attempts. It was well overdue and no action was taken but it did show up on my credit history.
