Problem with pay or lack of!!!

Hello i wonder if someone can offer some advice on a problem with my DH wages.
He started work cleaning for the company on Sept 25th as he works in a shop he never sees his boss or area manger as its a cleaning company and not the shop who employ him.
He didnt sign a contract with them for almost another month but has his start date as the 25th September but for some unknown reason the head office never received their copy we still have his the 1st we knew of it was when he received no pay on the 12 Novemeber he is payed every 4 weeks
In this time a new area manager has taken over and on the whole seems to want to get this sorted he gave us his address to send off a photocopy of his part of the contract but they cant use this.
He was due to travel down today but had car trouble(reasonable) and will either try to make it tomorrow or early next week next pay date is (9th Decemeber)
Really sorry I know its long my main questions are
1 Is the contract he still has valid as head office never recieved their copy
2 what happens if he doesnt get paid again its only for 18 hours so we are surviving just until the pay gets in

The "contract" (which isn't, but no need to go into that) is irrelevant - he has worked so he has a contract. It sounds like this is a genuine error and the company want to get it sorted. Talk to them and explain - they can ususally sort out something if they know there is a need to.0
