Advice regarding DCA

Back in March took a massive hit in my take home pay. With the help of CCCS managed to come to arrangements with my credit cards (4 of them). Basically paying them the nominal fee of £1 each month while I either get a better paying job or save up for bankruptcy. So far so good. All the cards agreed.

One of them, Opus, have now sold my debt on. To Aktiv Kapital (who don't seem to be well regarded). Letter from Opus saying not to pay them anymore and the debt assigned to AK.

Sent the "Prove It" letter to Aktiv Kapital. And a stop calling letter, had about 6 calls from them where they hung up as I answered.

My question is, while awaiting a response or otherwise from Aktiv Kapital, do I still make a nominal payment but to AK now? Or do I stop making payments until/unless AK prove that they now have the debt?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered somewhere else. My search-fu is weak today.

Many thanks in advance.

  • Are CCCS aware that the debt has been sold? Really you should make sure they are aware of this and then let them deal with it. Selling on a debt is fine as long as whoever sells it lets the debtor know that this has happened, which in your case they have.

That said, I would be intrigued to know why Opus did this after they had accepted the CCCS plan.

  • Sorry, should have made clear.

CCCS only advised me on what to do, they didn't actually write to the card people on my behalf or arrange a DMP. However, in my dealings with the card people I sent them copies of the SOA prepared by CCCS (with their logo on it) and made it clear that what I was offering is what the CCCS advised me to do.

Not been back in contact with CCCS yet. Can't phone from work and they are extremely busy when I've tried to phone lunchtime / evening.
