Want to buy a house!! need help

So we want to buy a house, we got refused 2 years ago i was only 19 and only had £300 wages a month (what were we thinking!!) and partner had £1500 loans.
So by this time next year we will be debt free, both have good stable jobs.
what do mortgage lenders look for ? dont want to be refused again

They want to know how much deposit do you have. How much do you earn, do you have any outstanding credit and what is your credit rating to start with.0
