Are they leaving you answerphone messages? What do these say? Do they give an address? If you have an address you can send a letter requesting all future communication in writing and to remove your number from their database - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11571485&postcount=4

Without an address there is nothing you can really do (unless your phone allows you to block the number).
Have you also received any letters from them? - I think they are credit solutions (although I'm not sure). If you have then again you could send the template letter to them.

  • Hi Tixy,My son owes money to 02,so I think they have now passed the debt to these people.I had a automated call about 9am this money, the message said press 1 if you are (sons name)press 2 if you are not.Since then I have had several silent calls.About 15 minutes ago had a call from someone who wouldnt say who he was just left a number for my son to phone 02087634526.I think this will be the start of many calls.Thanks.

Does son live with you? can you persuade/pressure him into dealing with the debt? even if he can't afford to pay it all off they should accept a repayment installment from him that he can afford.

  • Yes my son lives here.He is on job seekers and is also overdrawn at the bank,he has a £200 overdraft which he has gone over by £15.His money goes in fortnightly I think its about £135.00,so no way he can pay.

Suggest he contacts one of the debt charities for some advice on dealing with his debts - IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts. They'll help and advise him on just making token payments until his situation improves (a far better option than ignoring them and ending up with CCJs etc).

Regarding his benefits - he may be better to open a new basic bank account elsewhere to have his income paid into - and then also to offer a token payment towards the overdraft until he finds work. But a charity will advise him best.
