Unpaid Overtime Wages

Can anyone out there help me?
I've taken advantage of my company offering extra overtime over the past couple of months, and have budgeted that bit extra to help towards Christmas.
But due to some "Error" all the extra hours have not been included in my wage packet this month. My manager blames HR, HR blame my manager, senior management refuses to get involved. Now this leaves me almost short of money to buy a lot of the Christmas things I had planned to for my family. Lots of others have had theirs paid in, but its about 30 of us who haven't. Although it will be paid into my December wage, I won't get this until the 23rd and I'm working up to 6pm Christmas Eve.
Any idea what I can do? Anything I can quote to them? Do I have the right to threaten non work?
Thanks in advance.....

I would approach your manager and ask if there is any way that some of the overtime money could be paid as an advance before the next payroll is due. Before doing that, though, check to see if it should have been paid in this wage packet or the next one - it might be that any overtime before a certain date in the month is paid in the same month's pay, but anything worked after a certain date (often the payroll date, which can be a fortnight before your actual payday), is only paid the following month. Your contract may have these details.0

Some members on here will take the attitude of tough titty.
However, there was a lady in a similar situation to you recently and after being fobbed off for a while by her personnel bods (or HR or whatever they like to call themselves these days) they relented and she was paid.
You have every right to be paid when you should be paid.
Tell them to get their act together and pay you.0 -
I have approached my manager and he's shrugged his shoulders and been very unhelpful.
It's for the overtime I did within the month of October. The rule is you get it in the following months packets. So some of the hours I did as far back as the first week of October. I do accept what I'm doing this month shouldn't be in until December's.
They just don't want to take the issue seriously. Maybe they know they made a mistake.0 -
Could you put a request in writing for the money to be paid before next payday? That would make it a formal request. You could also consider raising a greivance, but that could take longer than you can wait for the money.0

I'll try a letter.
Just to my manager? HR? Senior Management? Or all of them?0 -
I think I would address it to senior management. If you can find the relevant details in your contract, it might be worth pointing it out (or it could make you very unpopular!). Perhaps a letter stating that you expected to get paid in accordance with the details in your contract, and as you didn't receive the overtime at the expected time, it will mean financial hardship as you was going to use this money for Christmas presents. I don't know if it would work, though. After all, they have not refused to pay you, they have simply made a mistake and not included it in this month's pay.
You could also ask your bank for a short term overdraft, or use a credit card and pay it off as soon as you receive the overtime payment.0
