Need advice regarding buy now pay later shopping

I stupidly decided to get an account with great universal (now called k and co)
However I got made redundant 3 months ago and havent been able to make payments on time due to benefits coming through a few days late, both times I notified the company of these and they said they would negate the late fees.
Ive just called them to notify them that a payment would be made 3 days late this month (payments due on 27th I get paid 30th) where they told me that I had only one of the late payment fees had been refunded. I asked to speak to a manager and was told this would not be possible as it would tie up their line and they would call me back within 48 hours, I then persisted to ask to speak to a manager as I would like to resolve this matter now they flat out refused and hung up on me (to be fair they did warn me) Also they refused to let me make the payment late and said I would be charged again if that was the route I wanted to take
My question basically is can I argue that they should refund me the first late fee which they originally agreed would not be applied but now refuse they ever said.
And also am I within my rights to make payment a few days late if I notify them, I do it with vodafone and they dont have a problem with it.
And finally if I ask to speak to a manager can I speak to one there and then or do I have to wait until they say I can?
Thanks in advance

Hi I don't know why you have put on your thread title "buy now pay later", usually this refers to when you buy goods and then defer making the minimum payments until such a time that has been set by the provider. I would assume that you are just talking about a normal cat account. You buy goods and then pay weekly or monthly or as stated in the credit agreement. Anyway my point is people may not look at your thread because of the problem with the title, I am sure that most people on here can advise on your situation.
It seems that they have been fair by removing the late fees for you. I would hope that you have informed them in writing. If you have not then do this as soon as possible.
They cannot refuse your payment, however they can refuse to amend the charges that have already been applied. I would guess the only reason they can refuse payment is that they were the wrong department to accept payments.
Speaking to a manager I would again guess is part of the Company policy, however even if you do speak to a "manager" you will be speaking to a duty supervisor that again only has a limited authority. Again they can refuse if they have no manager or there is nobody there at the time, as they have said they are arranging for someone to call you I think this is acceptable providing that they do in a reasonable time.
Having read your thread fully I think you need to look at when and what you can pay, if you can pay the full min payment required then you need to contact them and request that they move your payment due date. They may have rules that say you cannot do this, however if you make a formal complaint and explain fully your reasons I am sure this will be changed.
You don't seem to be in a huge problem with this account and I think with a little discussion you may be able to make this situation good. You could even consider asking them to freeze interest and create a fixed monthly payment, obviously you must consider you status and future impact. If I were in this situation I would be looking at how to make maximum savings, pay no interest and recover from the situation in the best way possible. A payment arrangement may show on your credit score and most of the time they do not default as long as you have requested this and not been pushed into this because you fail to pay time and time again.
Let me know how you get on and if my info is not any good at least you have a bump!.0
