Replacement printer wanted, but where ?

My Epson C82, is just a few steps away from being thrown out of the window. Lord above knows what is wrong with it. Not too many days ago I printed text and threw in a few thumbnail pics with no trouble. But today, ugh!.
So, I would like an inexpensive, easy to operate printer that will work well as and when I want to run something off. I note Aldi have a Hewlett Packard standalone, (whatever that might mean), but mine is to be connected to my computer (windows '98). Anyone have a suggestion ?.
