49% increase on yoghurt in one week at Tesco

Soooooooooo fed up. How can tesco justify an increase of 49% on yoghurt in one week?

Yeo Valley Greek with coconut - 4 for £1.20 last week (not a special price, its been that for weeks)....today £1.79

My guess would be that in the near future they will do a 50% offer on the Yoghurt for £1.20. Just a guess. Also when prices do rise. They don't do it over time, its generally an instant 1 day its this the next its that kind of deal.
  • that's not the only thing that's had a massive price hike! I've been keeping my eye on this bottle of chilli sauce in Tesco because my previous bottle had nearly run out so was going to get another soon. Well last week, and for a good few weeks before that, it was £2.09.

Today it is £2.61  Over 20% increase in one week!

...and they think we won't notice :naughty:

If you live anywhere near a largish town or city a lot of asian shops will have these or something very similar for under £2
  • Same with the Asda whitening toothpaste we've been using. It's been 50p for about 6 months. Had gone up to £1 last weekend.
  • Tesco own brand Chilli Con Carni with Rice 450g was £2.00 for weeks. Now jumped to £3! How they can justify such huge price rise in such a short space of time is beyond me.
  • Tesco Value Kidney beans have been 16p for ages. Last week they'd hiked the price up over 50% to 25p. OK They're still cheap, but 50%!!!

I've been buying mine from the 99p shop, I think it's 650ml, just checked & walked back from the fridge & forgotten again, doh.
Slightly smaller but not by much. As good as the ones I used to buy from supermarkets.

  • I get less and less with each shop and seem to spend more and more.

I exist on lentils and pulses as they are relatively affordable. I can afford to eat, but food poverty is becoming a bigger and bigger problem isn't it.
