Natwest Overdraft - Switch to Santander?

Hi all,

I currently have a Graduate Account with an arranged overdraft of £2000 which I am permanantly in. I am charged £17.75 interest every month.

Im looking at my possibilities and see that Santander Offer an Interest Free Overdraft for a year plus £100 if you switch to them.

Do you know if you can already be in your overdraft when you switch to them or whether you have to be in credit?

Any other recommendations if so?

Thanks in advance

  • ooo i would like to know this also - i am on an LTSB account at the moment and have overdraft of £3000 so get charged about £25 a month interest plus overdraft usage fee. obviously want to clear my overdraft but interest free for a year would be lovely.

I have all my direct debits set up on this account though?! will Santander switch these??

  • They will credit check you, so there is no guarantee you will get the same overdraft I'm afraid. I opened an account with them and they gave me a £400 overdraft, nowhere near the £2k i had with Halifax.

Something else to bear in mind, if you try to amend the overdraft amount (like i reduced mine to £50), you effectively break the terms and conditions of the switcher fee and they won't pay out :o

  • Thanks for reply Superbiatch. I'm a little concerned about applying for it if they reject me - thats another blow to my credit score....

If anybody has done anything similar I would appreciate the advice!
