Tax return for period when I was full time student

I have asked a few questions on this before, and sitll not sure where I stand.

I am desperately trying too fill in my first ever tax return which is for the period 05 -06 when I was a full-time student. Should I receive any relieif on National Insurance payments or tax?

Also, I was paying monthly debts - can I claim any relief on that?

    National Insurance - no.
Tax - any tax deducted from PAYE will need to be declared on the employment page at 1.11.

Need more detail to be certain but almost certainly no.
Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.

Bit puzzled, having seen your previous posts - where the Return comes from? The previous advice had been to write to HMRC regarding the odd bits of self employment - and there doesn't appear to have been time for them to issue a Return based on that?

  • I went to the HMRC a few weeks ago and they said I need to fill in a return for the self-employed bits of work I did as a full-time student during the period 05-06.

That explains it. But have they given you extra time to complete it (as issued late) .. or are they maintaining 31st Jan? Which leaves it a bit tight!

Post #2 - answers your questions, however.

  • No, no extra time, but I have earned under £15,00 (and I think under the tax allowance so hopefully it won't be too bad). Thanks

Hopefully thats a 'comma' in the wrong place .. as opposed to a missing 'zero'?;)
