You have taken the first important step and realised that you have a problem and the second step is to deal with it.

I have a DMP with PayPlan (my sig says everything !) and havent had a single problem with them since I started in Dec 2005.

Its not easy being restricted in your spare cash, but its something you get used to ! - If I run short I can always borrow £30/month from the bank of Dad !

thank you for your reply! you must be thirlled your DFD is getting much closer. i just keep thinking....5 years!! my daughter will be 10:eek: blimey. but i suppose if we dont take this route or get any help we will be paying for much longer.

so after you have finished your DRP is that the end to the dept?

may i ask how much they leave you with after the bills/household essentials for a month?

thats the bit that worries me the most. obviousely the children still have birthdays, xmas, still get asked to birthday parties/school trips, need new clothes shoes etc!
Started comping October 2011, no wins as of yet. Would really love to win a short uk break so we can take the children away :D Thank you to everyone who takes the times to post competitions and good luck:j

No, I will need to pay off approx £1500 in interest that accrued on a CC when the interest was unfrozen & then refrozen while in the DMP.

About £200/month, but I`m 45, single and in rented accomodation so its just about enough.

thanks for the reply!! £200 a month is more than we are left with a month so i'd be happy;)

my husband cant seem to grasp this whole idea of a drp and doesnt think it will help at all.

im trying to find where on this site we can fill out a SOA- can anyone show me the link?

    thanks:D

he seems to think the only way is to not have to pay rent...ie move in with my mum which i will not do!! he says we cannot live without credit cards incase something 'majorly bad' happens...

  • I know you are waiting to have a chat with payplan but have you spoken to any of your credit card & loan people ? May be worth having a chat with them first to see what they say especially if your husband is reluctant to set up a dmp or similar. I must admit i was reluctant too which is why I approached everyone myself. It is not for everyone but it worked for me and apart from a call about every 6 months where they just review thew situation, they dont bother me. They always ask for me to up the payments but i always refuse because my situation is still the same at present, they accept this no problem. Good luck hun.
  • You have made the first step good luck

Good luck, I just wanted to say I am in a similar position and this place is brilliant. There is so much you can do to cut back when you post a SOA here I did it a few months ago and reduced things. Also this month I have gone ebay selling crazy to get some paypal money to buy the kids xmas pressies from ebay too, if you have some of the good clothes etc with some life left in them you could get selling and hopefully you will have some money in your account to pay off a debt or a food bill next week. I believe you get 100 free 99p listings a month (I do so I presume everyone does lol!) so even though you pay 10% of what you sell you aren't making any outlay.

    Hi

Please speak to one of the debt charities, or two before making any decision on your future http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=clicks&utm_campaign=resourcebar#help.

Payplan are a company rather than a charity and some of their staff seem to be keen on IVAs.

So you realise that it is a formn of insolvency and like bankruptcy has to be declared for the rest of your life, if you are asked?

Do you realise that the IVA proivider picks up fees (around £6000) before your creditors get paid back and that if your circumstances change for the worse, it can be harder to alter your commitments than on a DMP (your creditors have to agree first).
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
