Wilson Andrews (Gregory Pennington)

Good Morning,

I am just about to start a Debt Arrangement Scheme with Wilson Andrews who are part of Gregory Pennington. I was about to go into a DMP but as I'm in Scotland realised that a DAS was a better option.

I first contacted them on the 9/11/11 and they posted letters off to my creditors yesterday so it is early days. I have now read bad things about GP and also a little about WA which isn't too good either. Wilson Andrews have been very nice but I am now starting to worry as I have read all these bad reviews.

As anyone had any experiences with these companies?

Thanks very much

    Never head of WA.

Wouldn't touch GP. Contact one of the debt charities instead. IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts.

  • Are Wilson Andrews (GP) your DAS Administrator or your Payment Distributor?

My DAS was arranged, free, by the local authority's Money Advisory Service. They then nominated GP to be my Payment Distributor. GP retain a sum of 10% of my payments for the service but this is at the expense of my creditors and does not add to my woes!

Any dealings I have had with GP have been handled well and I have had a host of complications to deal with!

Off course it adds to your woes. Surely, if you were not paying this 10% rake off, that money could be going to your creditors and paying off what you owe all that much quicker?

Sorry for hijacking the OPs post but that's one of the benefits of the Debt Arrangement Scheme:

    1. Effectively the Money Distributor is engaged by the creditor hence the 10% is paid for by them for administration. You pay 100% of your debt, the creditor accepts 90% and the Money Distributor receives 10% for being the go between.
    2. Your debt is frozen at the date you enter the scheme.
    3. No more charges or interest provided you adhere to the plan.
    4. You are also protected from any diligence or enforcement measures.

I contacted National Debt Line initially and the advice from them was that the DAS was a 'no brainer' compared with the other debt remedies available - obviously it needs to be assessed to your individual needs.

    Hi Billy,

Thanks so much for your reply. I wish I'd looked on this forum before I'd gone ahead with anything.

I'm not actually sure. I think they might do both. I will need to check with them tomorrow. I pay 10% also but I think it is me who pays for this, will have to check this too.

I'm glad you've had no probs with GP. Have you been paying into it for long? How long into the DAS did you stop receiving phone calls?

    Cheers :)
  • Phone calls and letters stopped instantly. I've had one letter from a debt recovery co in nearly 2yrs - I sent a letter back confirming my DAS details and told them to back off. Haven't heard anything since.

As I said above, I've been paying my DAS now for nearly 2yrs and have found the whole thing pretty straightforward.

The one issue I had was trying to sell my house, as two creditors held inhibitions against me. This meant that, as they already had a Charge for Payment and Inhibition, the DAS was not as effective and I had to settle the amoiunt owed plus interest which had accrued on these sums before they would release the Inhibition.

The remainder of my debt was unsecured and prior to dilligence so I will not encounter this problem again. So long as I pay in accordance with my agreed DPP I should have no further problems.

    46mths to go folks!!!

i have been in my DAS for three years now and i also pay the 10%. i can confirm that under DAS rules the 10% is at the creditors expense and not mine. My payment distributor is Gregory Penningtons (Now known as Think Link) and i find them pretty useless to talk to. They can never give me any advice when i call as they just distribute my payment and nothing else. i also find that the date they distribute the payment seems to vary each month despite my paying it on exactly the same date every month.

I got a breakdown from them of what i was paying to my creditors and it shows the 10% being removed, ie i pay £100 and my creditors get £90 of that.

i have had no calls or letters from any of my creditors since i entered my DAS which has been a huge relief.
