HELP! Need ideas for childrens craft area at School Fayre

Despite my being clear I was not going to organise it more times that I would care to mention, it would appear that if I don't come up with some ideas for the school fair childrens craft area, I will be manning an empty area (I've said I will man the stall)

Less than 2 weeks to go :mad::mad: and nothing has been planned

So, can anyone give me any ideas
- no cooking
- no sewing
- no painting

All we have in the cupboard are some red and green doilies and some beads.

I've just spent 2 hours that I really couldn't spare looking for ideas and have come up with nothing.

HELP!

I know you say no cooking, but.....
If you can handle making salt dough and baking (think it only takes about 10-15 minutes) you could have the kids decorate them as tree decorations?? Really cheap

We have bought plain side plates from ikea and ceramic pens the children are doing hands off santas cookies .... plates by drawing around their hands and decorating them. These are costing about 55p each we are charging £1.50

You could do this cheaper with paper plates and normal felt tips

Thank you - I did think of that but we have no access to the ovens,,,,,,,,oh - do you mean bake them first and then decorate?

Sorry for what may be a stupid question - I don;t do 'messy craft' - I can barely cope with a pritt stick! I dont think I'd survive without my double sided tape

Yeah, make them up at home and take them in for the kids to decorate. Some cheap paints, glue and some glitter and away they go!

    Heres a recipe:

Love it - we still have ceramic pens from a summer fayre and plates would be so easy to do - will tell our dancing group that is what we will be doing at our fayre now:beer:

how about angels? If you buy some old fashioned pegs from wilkinsons you know the ones that are round at the top and have two prongs.

Add the dolies for wings, put eyes nose mouth on the round part on peg and decorate.

    very easy angels

*Christmas Cards using Snowman/ cracker card blanks to decorate

*Paper crowns decorated with Tinsel and Sequins

    *Peg Dolls
Children make either angels or shepherds. Angels have doily skirts, pipe cleaner halos and silver wings. Shepherds have fabric robes, headdresses and pipe cleaner crooks. Both have pipe cleaner arms, felt tip faces and wool hair.

    *Icing pre-made christmas shaped Biscuits

    *Jam Jar Lanterns
Children decorate the outside of the jam jars with torn tissue paper and glitter, then put a tea light inside.

    *Clay Decorations
Children can make tree decorations with air dry clay using cookie cutters (don’t forget to put the holes in), sculpt nativity figures, plait wreaths or anything else they can imagine! We also shaped them into bowls as tea light holders and stuck glass beads in to decorate.

    *Finger Puppets
Blank puppets (cut out of coloured card with finger holes in the bottom)
Puppet features (eg penguin beaks, reindeer horns, santa hats and beards with double sided tape on the back also googly eyes)
Children stick features onto puppets using tape provided.

    *3d Christmas Trees
3d Trees are made by slotting together two 2d card trees with slits in. Can also make angels/ snowmen/ presents. Children can use template to draw around and then cut out trees. Trees can then be decorated with stickers and felt tips.

    *Stained Glass Window Cards

    • Card blanks with cut out windows
    • Christmas scene templates
    • Tracing paper
    • Black markers
    • Scissors
    • Felt tip pens
    • Glue sticks

Children trace Christmas scene onto tracing paper with black markers, then colour in and cut to fit card window. Scenes are then glued in place.

    *Christmas Crackers
You will need: cardboard tubes (1 whole and 2 halves per child), tissue paper, glue sticks, metallic ribbon, scissors, paper hat, wrapped sweetie, Bible verse, pencils
What to do: take a sheet of tissue paper, put it long side across and place a whole tube in the middle, roll the tube up in the paper and glue the end of the tissue sheet to the tube. Push a half tube into one end and secure with glue. Tie a piece of ribbon between the two tubes. Push another half tube into the other end and secure with glue. Fill the cracker with a hat, sweet and verse. Then tie a piece of ribbon between the tubes.

    *Glittery Tree Decorations
You will need: salt dough decorations, paint, PVA glue, glue pot and sticks, glitter, sequins, metallic ribbon, scissors, scrap paper (for children to carry wet decorations), pencils
What to do: thread ribbon through the hole and tie a knot to make a loop so you can hang it on the tree, place decorations on square of paper and decorate with paint, glitter and sequins. Note that to get glitter and sequins to stick you need to use PVA not just sprinkle onto the wet paint or they will all drop off as it dries.

    *Snowman cupcakes
You will need: cupcakes, white icing, marshmallows, red shoelaces, smarties, minstrels, mini icing carrots, black writing icing, pencils
What to do: get the children to put their initials on the bottom of the cake first. Then cover the cupcake in white icing, put on a marshmallow, glue another marshmallow on top with more icing to make a snowman. Make a hat by sticking a smartie onto a minstrel and glue it onto the snowman’s head. Decorate with a carrot nose, shoelace scarf and writing icing features.

    *Christmas cards
You will need: card blanks, green paper tree templates, pink paper angel skirt, body and wings, glue sticks, star stickers, spot stickers, pens, Christmas message printouts.
    What to do:
    For the angel card
Take angel skirt and fold into a fan. Open out card blank and stick down the angel wings and body, place the folded skirt into the middle and stick each side down. Draw on a face and stick on some hair. Add a Christmas message to the front of the card.
    For the Christmas tree card
Take a piece of green paper and fold into a fan. Place in centre of card blank and stick each side down. Decorate the tree with a star sticker on top and spot stickers as baubles. Add a Christmas message to the front of the card.

Hope something here helps. they were devised for Church activities so you may want to adjust the message (eg jokes not bible verses in the crackers perhaps)

what about Christmas Maracas? Paper plate, decorated by the kids in christmas style, then fold in half, put some rice (lentils, dried peas, etc) inside and then tape the edges together so you have a shaker. Our brownies made these and loved them, I think kids like anything with a noise, generally!!
