Help Please - Didn't check receipt!! Wrong carpet wrong price...

Hi folks - First of all...I didn't check the receipt- I know!!
We talked about cheap carpet £4.99 for 2 bedrooms
I handed him paper with measurements for both bedrooms on which he wrote the quote - I assumed this was for what we had discussed.
Carpet fitter arrived - 12.99 carpet for 1 bedroom as salesman says he quoted!
Salesman says only talked about 1 bedroom, then faxed him and HQ measurements and quote which he had handed back to me
Salesman still says we talked about 12.99 carpet!!
My word against his - tried HQ but rejected complaint. I have paid more for one bedroom than I would for 2 - what can I do??

Have you had the carpet fitted? When did you pay? And when were you told about the new price?

Hi - Stupidly I let the carpet fitter go ahead and do the one bedroom - this was a month ago now. Still letters going back and forth - me talking about verbal contract... Had paid previously in the shop and paid the fitter after he did the job. Noticed new price when I checked the receipt when the carpet fitter had left. Don't see me getting anywhere...

I tend to agree with you... I don't think you will get anywhere with this.

So the fitter arrived with expensive carpet for one room only, saying that that is what you ordered.

You then allowed him to fit this carpet, and then paid him for it.

Hmmm.... as I said, difficult to see how you can get anywhere with this.
