Done mine today. Documents sent as attachments to email to SSE

MCS certificate doesn't show the panel type correctly, nothing can be done, "because of the drop-down menu" at their website.

Otherwise i think its all corrrect.

Panels were generating 280 watts in the cool winter sun.
 ... I do take it that "because of the drop-down menu" is referencing a glitch, not that the panels supplied aren't on the MCS accredited dropdown list ? .... timing would put you between a rock and a hard place, however, little things like this do have a habit of revisiting with sharp teeth, so at least check the MCS accredited panels listing ....

The TRINA panels are definitely MCS, but there's some incompetence at the MCS registration site (for installers)
heres what it gives for panel type !!!

    TSM-xxxPC05.10 where xxx=200-260 in 5W increments
    TSM-xxxPC05.15 where xxx=200-250 in 5W increments
    TSM-xxxPC05.18 where xxx=200-260 in 5W increments

My local company blames the MCS drop-down menu.

    Hi

So the manufacturer has registered a panel which they sell, or could sell, as various part numbers, depending on the results of the flash test at the end of the production line.

From the above It looks like there are three product ranges (10/15/18) and each range is split according to the flashtest and/or customer demand requirements.

If an installation is of 10 panels rated at 245W supplied from the '18' range the part number would be 'TSM-245PC05.18' and I take it would be registered as being 10 panels of 'TSM-xxxPC05.18 where xxx=200-260 in 5W increments' with a total capacity of 2450W (?) .... is this what the installer described as being the problem ?

Well these can be seen in the MCS list, ie ranges of panels. Apparently the drop-down menu showed simply these ranges, so it wasnt possible to specify the exact panel using the drop-down menu.

My panel is CHANGZHOU TRINA TSM-235 PC05 so I assume it belongs to the range "TSM-xxxPC05.18 where xxx=200-260 in 5W increments"

and all these on MCS certified list.

Latest from Good Energy (who accept applications by email)

If you are sending in your application for the solar Feed-in Tariff, please note the following:
    • If you have a valid MCS certificate and we have received your application before midnight on the 11th of December then, subject to you application being validated, you should be eligible for the higher rate of FIT.
    • If we receive your application after midnight on the 11th of December you will not be eligible for the higher rate of FIT after the 1st of April 2012.

    From NPower letter received yesterday:

"Please be assured that as your application has ben received before midnight on 11th December you are eligible for the higher tariff and will not be affected by the changes laid out in the government consultation"

pheeeeew! A great relief of after some long and painful calls and several emails failed to clarify the situation. Same letter says it may take 6-8 weeks "to complete our checks" - presumably because of the moutainous backlog!

Npower also told us way back tha tthey would accept all documentation and FiT applications by email to help people make the deadline.

Can't help feeling Govt could have handled this much better. As I understand it,the scheme has been pulled/modified because too mnay companies were doing large scale rent-a-roof schemes to cash in, which then threatened to swallow all the available funds.Surely it would have been easier just to say you have to own the roof to qualify and set a limit on the acceptable size of system. As it is an opportunity has been missed and lot of people may soon be out of work; a great shame.
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!

The "incompetence" is simply as a result of 9000 installations a day being registered instead of 500 - there have been problems with the database for a week now. Your installer will be able to alter the panels once everything has settled down - it won't alter your fit application or mcs certificate number
