Military overcoat suitable for interviews?

Just chalked up £10 in Tesco clubcard vouchers and thought one thing I could do with over the winter is an overcoat to attend interviews, in order to look reasonably presentable. Using the Clubcard voucher double up exchange of course :)

Below are two on the Tesco site. I much prefer the first one and am sure that would be suitable. However, there is only XL in stock. The second one has a wider range of sizes in stock and still looks reasonably smart, but I personally think the double breast thing is a bit OTT. I have looked in a couple of stores and not managed to find the first one in stock in the size I'm after, although I suppose I could look further afield.

TIA for fashion tips :D

Looking smart and dapper for an interview is never a bad thing. Just check how well the coat fits in person and how it hangs, I picked up a great summer linen suit at Sainsburys for 40, but have seen other cheap work wear that fits badly and looks a dogs dinner.

Not that the high end shops are much better, I took my gran with me to buy a swish suit at Harvey Knicks when I had a fat bonus burning a hole in my pocket, gran used to be a mender for all her working life, the sales guy was horrified when she kept finding flaws in the fabric.
  • They're both very smart and I think they'd be suitable for interviews. I like the second one best and it looks like it would be warmer for when the really cold weather arrives.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

I think they both look fine for interviews, Wouldn't you normally unbutton your coat after going into the building before the interview anyway?

I would think it more normal to take it off completely when entering the building.

And hold neatly draped over the arm, making sure to hide the label if it's a F&F Tesco one :D

  • I like the 2nd one best as its more fashionable, the first one didnt do anything for me.
You may want to check out Peacocks-I bought a pair of smart black trousers for £8.00 there, perfect for job interviews etc.
  • I think either would be fine, get the one that fits the best as it will look the smartest, and good luck in your interviews!

I wear one that's like the first one but with buttons. I wear it with a grey dress and grey boots and I think it looks pretty smart. I hope it looks smart!
