Maybe they've got wise to us!
You should be able to contact your bank and instruct them not to fulfill a direct debit to them over the £1 - under the direct debit scheme your bank have to honour what you tell them to doFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0 -

I phoned my bank and they said usually they have a mandate from the company but they haven't sent anything and she can't see anything pending. I've got a feeling I'm gonna end up paying the full sub. Does anyone know the contact details for RT subscriptions? Thanks
Just found it, if anyone else want's it:

I have the same issue. Issues being received under the £1 offer, but no record of any mandate (and hence no way to cancel) at my bank.
I have emailed the address in the above post, and will see what they reply with.
Thanks for the link.0 -
In case anyone is still having issues with the £1.00 direct debit.
I emailed them a couple of days ago - just got a reply
Having checked the database I can see there has been a failure with the payment collection system, and as such you have not been debited the £1.00. This is an oversight on our behalf and we apologise for the error.
We will be writing to you to confirm the date of the next collection and you should receive the letter tomorrow (Saturday). I apologise for any inconvenience caused and can confirm that the magazines will continue to be sent to you in the meantime.
So if anyone else is still waiting you may want to write to them.
I've got the Christmas issue now anyway so I'll be cancelling soon. May just wait for the new year issue.

I never had my £1 taken despite emailing them about it. I've now cancelled DD with the bank & got this reply from the helpline
Thank you for your email regarding your subscription to Radio Times Magazine.
We can confirm that your subscription has been set to expire at the end of the current term.
The last issue dispatched to you will be the issue which is on sale on the 25th January 2012.
As you currently pay by direct debit I would advise you to also cancel the payment at your bank or building society.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards
So I'll have had 12 issues all free.
New year edition came today. I've not finished looking through the Christmas one yet.0 -
