I've tried and tried and tried again to give up smoking to the point where it's depressing me.
The problem I have is that a also like a beer, and ALWAYS slip up when I go to a pub or have a beer indoors. I'm convinced I could do it if it wasn't for the drinking, but don't want to give up both. Any tips?
Only when the last tree has died

I'm 3 years free of nicoteen
If you really want to do it, you can.
I'm not saying its easy, but each day does get easier... especialy once you get past the 6 month goal.
Treat your giving up as a 2 part addiction
1. Nicoteen withdrawl
2. Habit withdrawl
1. Nicoteen withdrawl can be replaced with gum/patches/etc
I used patches and followed the complete 16 week course as recomended, gradually reducing the dose.
See your GP and tell them your on a nicoteen quit programe and you'll get your fix on prescription - 2 x £16 boxes of patches per script ( and I cheated - I continued to get the full strength patches 20mg and cut them in half / quarters to cut costs)
2. The habit is something you need to deal with personally.
Certain times of day that I normally associated with having a smoke were dificult at first cause you feel there's something missing... find something to occupy that time and the craving passes - a craving only lasts for 5 mins.. Remember that.
Brainwash yourself to consider smoking to be a 'Filthy Dirty Habit' - the more you say that to yourself the more you belive it, and to go back to being a smoker would make you a huge hypocryte
Continue to put aside what you would normally spend on cigs/rollys
Set yourself targets..ie. every 3 months and go treat yourself with your saved money.
Watch your health improve.
Watch your families health improve ( if you smoke around them)
Feel proud to be a non smoker, and stronger for beating the habit.
Feel free to ignore my post, this is just my story and i'm proud of my acchievement.
Giving up speed was hard
Giving up canabis was hard
Giving up nicoteen was easy, yet its a harder drug to quit.
Go for it people, you've got nowt to lose!£2 savers club = £83.500 -
