Cleaning up credit file

Hi,
I've got my free report from Experian and Equifax. I was very pleasantly suprised to see a score of 909 from Experian. Yay. Keeping up payments on my mobile phone and broadband, and bills for the last couple of years is paying off (went bankrupt in nov 2007).
However, not so pleased to see that on my Equifax report, HSBC are still showing as defaulted after the bankruptcy date (no mention of debt being satisfied or anything), so I have followed Fermi's advice in the sticky and sent them the standard letter.
I don't have the documentation relating to the original loans/cards so instead of the full account numbers, I have just copied the last four digits as mentioned in the credit report for each of the accounts. Will that be acceptable to them? They won't kick off saying they need the full account numbers?
Cheers,
S

Check your Bankruptcy petition it may have the full account numbers, if you have exhausted all other ways of getting the number (statements, calling them etc) then just quoting your name and address will usually be sufficient for them to trace the account.0

They might use it as an excuse not to update your file, but it won't be a flat out no based on you not having the full account number. Worst case scenario, if you don't have your petition from you may be able to obtain it from the OR. From reading up on some threads, HSBC require a strongly worded letter at the best of times before they update your file. Good luckFeb 2024:

Thanks guys - I do have the numbers somewhere at home, but I wanted to get it sent off before Christmas to comply with the 28 calendar day deadline so I've sent it as is. Hopefully will be ok

Your credit score seems very high for the limited amount of credit you have had over the last few years. Have you moved in the last few years and not put previous addresses on your file.0

HSBC will let you know if the full account number is needed! I'm in the same boat in that I have original account numbers but some of my accounts when bought by DCAs got given a new account number and I didn't keep the DCA letters. If they're gonna be difficult then I can play that game too

I think its to do with the mobile phone contracts (I have two, they are on a rolling month basis, and I recently settled one of them to go onto another rolling plan). They record the on-time payments and because they were up to date at the time of the BR they were allowed to be kept, so I keep on building up a good payment history with them. My credit file has all my addresses on for the last six years, so it wouldn't be that. I've also lived at each address for at least 2-ish years each so quite long periods of time. Oh and also stayed with same insurer for car insurance for a couple of years as well as an additional driver, which probably helped.0
