Fredrickson International Limited keep sending letters

Hello all

Today i think ive made the mistake of phoneing these people and giving all my details and im afraid that the debt will mow be in my name. A quick run down of what has been happening.... Was getting letters from Fredrickson international limited and by accident opened one of them up. I called the number up to say to them that ive never had a credit card and that said person does not live at this address. The forname is very simlar to mine but the surname is the same. basicly they said that the account would be put on hold for 15 day well i went to the police and lodge a complaint about my name been used. Also they kept saying that it was an admin error that the name was wrong. As im busy most of the time i dont want to do this. The fear i have is they will now use my name now as the debter and come after me. What can i do to protect myself as ive never hald a credit card in the pass 8 years.

Many Thanks khitomer30

    Just do NOTHING
If this was not your debt, you were a fool for calling them.
If they think you owe the money, let them prove it in court and ignore anything else until they do.
Any other letters that come from them, write not at this address NO CONTRACT Return to sender on them and put them in the post box.
If this is not your debt you do not have to do or prove anything.

Vax is correct, apart from calling you a fool, which wasnt very nice at all, a bit silly would have been much kinder.

The company are phishing, someone with a similar name has taken this debt and they will have sent out similar letters to many people with similar names trying to get a reaction from one of them who might just be the one who owes this money.

You have wasted your time going to the police etc. Just put the letters back in the post marked Not at This Address and forget about them.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Really only two things to be concerned about.

    (1) That they may start legal action in your name.

    (2) That they may place defaults/adverse information on your credit files.

For (1), the debt is not yours, so any legal action is going to fail if you defend it. Legal action is very unlikely however. Even more so as Fredrickson no doubt know they have screwed up.

Make sure you deny owing the debt in writing, and keep copies of what you send so you can prove that you disputed it if they are daft enough to start court action.

    (2) is the one you should be more concerned about. Check your credit reports with all 3 agencies. If they have recorded false defaults/info in your name, then you need to make formal complaints to have that removed.

  • Hi Everyone,
My Boyfriend is having the same trouble from these people, who don't know how to be professorial. The letter he got was a few months after paying his debt off! It was addressed to him, but the letter looked really dodgy and it didn't even say dear sir and was signed by Fredrickson International. So no contact names were given in the letter.
He then called them, as he was confused as to what debt he owed. He called them from my phone! Now I get calls from them. I do not answer them and I have had texts from them too. Shall I answer and play dumb? Just to get them off my back? Not sure it will help.
Anyhoo, my boyfriend has been to the bank, where his debt was and they say he has to call a different number! Not sure why. He needs to get the prove it letter to sent to them, but he needs this from the bank. So the bank are not helping him either.
What shall we do next please? Anyone?
