I'm interested in this and I'm with HSBC too. My current fixed rate ends in April.
Does anyone know whether HSBC will allow you to apply for a mortgage product now and hold it for 6 months until the existing rate expires?0 -

Yes, I did the application online. They phoned me within 2 days, took me through the application and specified the date for drawdown as March when my current deal expires. She said we have 6 months to draw the funds once approved.0 -

Thanks - I phoned them and the lady said I couldn't do this, but I was unsure whether she really understood my question.
I'll give the on-line application a go :beer:0 -
I was fortunate to sneak in, at a 1.49% offset with F.D. (Brother of HSBC). Best thing I've ever done financially, it gives such overpayment opportunities, it's dead easy to overpay. We did something similar to other people where we got this agreed in principle in advance of our old mortgage transferring (3 months in advance I think ) then we just flipped over to it once the old one was up.
Grab it whilst it's hot I would say.Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045
