Managed to open a new bank account

After starting my DMP I have taken the advice of everyone here and opened a new bank account, as I owe money on a cc from Halifax, who are also my bank.

I still have a joint account with my soon to be ex husband at Barclays so decided it would be easiest to try them first, so I wouldn't have to go through all the proof of id stuff. Which is something I always struggle with as most of my utilities accounts etc are now online so I don't get paper bills.

TBH I wasn't expecting to get very far with Barclays after reading some of the stuff here, and had requested a paper copy of my gas and electric bill from Scottish power and a recent rent statement from the council so I could apply for a basic account elsewhere

To my total surprise I've been given a current account with a connect card :j :j All gone through credit checked and approved :D It looks like I just managed to sneak in before my credit rating dropped like a brick. It's a big relief as we live miles from the nearest cash machine (that you don't have to pay to use that is) So if I need cash I usually get cashback at my local co-op and was worried I wouldn't be able to do that with a basic account.

I can't wait to get everything changed over to my new account and not have to worry about the risk of Halifax grabbing what little money I have out of my bank account with them.

unfortunately that's still a long while away for me but the least I have to do with them before then the better imo :D

BTW They are STILL claiming they haven't received my SOA etc from CCCS which has been sent to them 3 times now

Same here. I am going to write one final letter and take it in branch. If they do not respond I'll make the token payemnts and leave it like that.

Any fees they charged will be claimed back once I finally stop being lazy and get on with it ;)

The only reason I haven't been into the branch yet is because I didn't want to rock the boat too much until I had another bank account set up. Also they told me last time they phoned, (Thursday) that they still have a backlog in the mail room so any letters I send them recorded or otherwise won't be "got to" for ages and as the cccs send theirs via "electronic means" (presume that means email) theirs would get to them faster.

Personally I think they are being deliberately obstructive so they can keep adding charges and interest
