My microwave just went off with a bit of a bang tonight.
I really need a micorwave with a top opening door, anyone know of any manufacturers that do these?
Thanks

If you want a combination microwave, I recently bought a PANASONIC - NN-CF778SBPQ Combination Microwave Oven from Dixons. Cost quite a bit more (over £200) but it's what I wanted. It has a nice, solid drop-down door like the LG SolarDom it replaced.
I think there were some microwave-only models in the LG range but I didn't research them. Still not cheap, as they were trendy designs.
Anyway, the kind of thing you want does exist, but you might have to pay a premium.

yes it/s a door that opens from the top & rests on the workbench. We have an LG one that does opens that way & I must admit I've always been carefully, have never rested anything on the door & if I buy a one where the door opens on the right I'll have to find a new place for it in the kitchen.
Will carry on looking

This bloke designed one as a concept in 2004 .... it obviously needed a lot more work as it's not gone from concept to reality
