I think a lot of the banks do share dealing on their websites, and also you can do a fantasy share dealing where you're given a virtual £10k to play with & have a bit of practice.0

so what are typical fees that the banks would use to manage your fees or do i just buy a share through the banks and then manage it myself0

Typical charges vary from £8-14 per transaction. Plus some charge a service charge per quarter etc.
As you can see buying and selling your shares potentially takes up £20 of any profit made. I think a general rule is that anything under £500 (some argue £1000) minimum isnt worth it (unless your certain its going to increase in price by a lot) in a single companys share.
Im personally new and using amoutns from 500 to 800.0 -

Do not do it. Seriously, do NOT do it !
Share Trading is just gambling for intellectuals.
I have had my fingers burnt in the past and I know what I'm talking about. A company might have all the right buying signals but if the market is in a certain "mood" then ALL share prices drop regardless of any positive indices.
Even the so called experts can't agree on which shares to buy !
A few years ago the best advice to give was to only buy defensive stocks such as utility firms and banking shares.......look what's happened to the share price of Lloyds TSB since then !No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
There are a few cheap online dealing companies, such as
http://www.x-o.co.uk/
http://www.jpjshare.com/content/index.aspx
http://www.tradersown.co.uk/sharedealing_guide::traders_own_isa_54.html
and for up to the minute share prices, try
http://www.lse.co.uk/SharePrice.asp?shareprice=HMV&share=HMV_GRP
Try some imaginary share deals before using your real money.
If I knew what shares to buy and what to sell every time, I certainly wouldn't be here in the cold North East of England .. I would be on a world cruise on the Queen Mary, or on the beach in The Bahamas right now0
