milpip are you really saying that your employer paid £1,800 in a year for you to travel from home to work (normal commuting) and you didn't pay them a penny back?
In my experience that would be unusual, but not impossible.

I had an old manger that was brought in under TUPE (or whatever it was called then) when his previous company was bought over.

His old company paid for all his travel to and from work as a contractual benefit and the new company decided to honour it.

I have no idea what his tax situation was, but just wanted to show an example where such things do happen.

    Indeed
I was 'lucky' enough to be TUPEd and my new employer paid me travelling money for the change in commute for the first 12 months

it was simply a sum of money in my payslip which was taxed and NIed in the usual manner; so no BIK just 'extra' pay

If youve got repayment supplement, sounds like an overpayment? You sure its an underpayment?

Sounds like a refund. Repayment Supplement is the HMRC term for 'interest' they pay on late refunds.

  • Thank you for your replies, ok so that makes sense because of it being 2005/6 - late refunds. So should be having a separate letter with cheque for £173.80 hopefully. :)
    Kind regards
