Is there a way to search for your username on FB in case this happens again?

You can search Facebook by typing your name in the search box at the top, and then, instead of clicking on any of the 'your names' which come up in the list, click 'see more results for "your name"' at the bottom. THEN, on the left hand side, click on 'public posts'. It only goes back a certain amount of time, so worth doing every so often.
